Common Commercial Plumbing Problems to Be Aware Of

Public restroom with large mirror, sinks, and neutral tones. If you own commercial space or run a business inside one, then you already know that the plumbing system isn’t anything like a residential plumbing system–it’s much more complex! So when a problem comes up and it’s not addressed quickly, it can have drastic consequences. Businesses and buildings that suffer from plumbing catastrophes are open to litigation depending on the type of property it is–especially if you have employees or tenants relying on the building’s safety.

This all said you  can  be prepared for commercial plumbing problems. They’ll never happen at a convenient time–what kind of emergencies do? But you don’ need to panic. We’re about to go over some of the most common commercial plumbing issues so you’re aware of them and can give us a call before they turn into huge emergencies.

Drain Clogs

Commercial kitchens and food services know how to take the proper steps to avoid drain clogs–they’re equipped with grease traps and other types of equipment to help avoid this problem. But if you’re running a commercial space that isn’t a food space but has bathrooms (we hope your building does!) then this potential problem applies to you.

Whether your commercial space has employees in and out all day, or customers, there are probably a lot of people that use your facility’s bathrooms, right? Drain clogs are almost guaranteed to happen, and you can only do so much to stop them. But that doesn’t mean you  can’t  stop them.

Be sure you have a maintenance staff that routinely cleans your commercial bathrooms and checks up on sink and toilet drains. Consider providing eco-friendly paper towels and toilet paper to prevent clogs, and have your drains professionally  cleaned  at least once a year to avoid clogs from ever happening.

Leaky Faucets

Commercial plumbing problems aren’t just inconvenient. They can signal to your customers, clients, or even employees that your building isn’t up to code and/or is unhygienic. A leaky faucet in a commercial bathroom is a sign that you don’t keep up your building, which can lead to people jumping to conclusions about your business.

Aside from that though, there’s the actual plumbing problem to consider. You may not keep a close eye on your water bills, but leaky faucets can actually waste  gallons  of water each year. Not only is this an unnecessary overhead cost for your business or commercial space, but it’s not very eco-friendly.

Low Water Pressure

Have you, or a guest in your building, noticed low water pressure? If the low water pressure seems to be gradual or just in one section of the building, then it can be a sign of a growing clog. If it’s sudden, however, it’s a sign of a bigger problem like a crack in your main water line or some other problem. This can lead to health hazards, wasted water, and a major business interruption to your space. Don’t let this be your scenario! Be sure to contact us as soon as you notice low water pressure in your commercial plumbing system.
